Marketing and Guerrilla Marketing

2 Innovative Business Models - and His First House for Cash at age 21

Since starting his first business at age 8, John has been active in sales and marketing.

In his teens he started several businesses, including a 'relationship marketing' business (a new business model then, which might nowadays be called 'network marketing')

These ventures enabled him to buy his first house for cash at age 21, as a wedding present for his new bride.

In his mid-20's John turned-around the insolvent and loss-making company Dynamic Reading Institutes by turning it into a 'franchise operation'. This was another business model which was relatively unknown in the UK at that time.

An Unusual Accountant

Although much of his work arose from the accountancy profession, John brought his own entrepreneurial 'bag of tricks' with him, advising a large number of business owners across a very wide range of business types.

John's engineering, industrial management, marketing and sales skills marked him out as a very different kind of 'accountant' early on.

A few years later, John formalised his marketing credentials by being admitted as a Member of The Institute of Marketing (1981) and then in 1989 as a Member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (Chartered Marketer)

In 1998, he was assisting Steve Pipe with his Added Value Masterclass discussing sales and marketing techniques to assist Chartered Accountants with their Practice development.

John was highly amused when one of the participants turned to him over lunch and said, "I thought only Chartered Accountants were allowed on this course."

To which John laughingly replied, "What? Is my FCA not good enough for you?" (FCA = Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants)

A long time 'Guerrilla Marketer'

Throughout his long career, John has always used 'low-cost' and 'no-cost' marketing, advertising, sales and promotion techniques to build good, solid long-term businesses, so when he heard about Guerrilla Marketing, he read a range of books about it then enrolled on the Guerrilla Marketing Coach Certification Programme in 2003.

Here's what Mitch Meyerson, the President of the Guerrilla Marketing Coach Certification Program said about John's course results and final examination submissions...

Mitch Meyerson's Opinion On John's 'Guerrilla Marketing Coach Certification Program' Course Results & Final Examination Submission:

Mitch Meyerson - President Guerrilla Marketing Coach Certification Program

Hi John,

I have just read your final.  It is clearly one of the very best I have received ... talk about over-delivery!

I really appreciated the extensive nature of your responses.

The way you greet and engage clients right from the beginning is extremely well planned.

I can see that you get to the heart of the matter in a very detailed yet warm way.

Your Seven Step Plan, once again, was very well thought out... the plan was really on target.

Regarding your weekly performance table - the scores were right at the top, about the best I have seen.

And your Marketing Calendar was very extensive.
As was the 100 (Guerrilla Marketing) weapons.

You own testimonials and client case studies were very strong and that is where I can see specific numbers and true satisfaction.

Your final was flawless and I particularly enjoyed your words on the differences between coaching, therapy and mentoring.

John, I can not do enough justice to your  *extensive*  work in this email.
Let me just say it was truly superb!

Of course, you are a Certified Guerrilla Marketing Coach.

 All the best,
 Mitch
